Where’s The Beef? Governor Cuomo vs the NY Legislature

State lawmakers are starting to ask a potentially devastating question about Gov. Cuomo’s budget — “Where’s the beef?” He’s going to have to reply with another old advertising slogan — by saying that he “answers to a higher authority.”

The game actually started last week with the governor’s budget release — which brought to mind the old rule that a good salesman “sells the sizzle, not the steak.” With all his PowerPoint slides and talk of a “reality based” budget, Cuomo pushed the “sizzle” of a plan to decrease spending by 2.7 percent from last year.
