The allegation that Bronx Assemblywoman Naomi Rivera gave her boyfriend, Tommy Torres, four-month “no-show” job in 2010-11 continues to make news.
The NY Post reports that her Democratic primary challenger Mark Gjonaj is calling for both the Assembly and the Bronx DA to investigate the allegation.
“The public has the right to expect a full investigation into the conflict of interest by all appropriate government agencies,” he said.
Friends in Rivera’s 80th AD tell me that Naomi has been well-received by her constituents when out campaigning in recent weeks. One person did express concern over the “no-show” job. Another said that with two challengers on the September ballot splitting the vote, Rivera will prevail.
